LinkedIn is Still King, but More Businesses Using Facebook for Recruiting

LinkedIn has gone from a slow and steady social networking startup to completely owning the online professional networking space today.  If you’re not a member on the site yet, check out 5 Reasons Why Every Small Business Owner Should Be Using LinkedIn.  With over 120 million professionals on LinkedIn, and whose completed profiles mirror the work experience and credentials listed on their resume, it’s easy to see why companies large and small have been using the site to recruit potential job candidates.

Unfortunately, the costs of listing hundreds or thousands of jobs on LinkedIn and other job boards such as Monster and Careerbuilder are becoming increasingly prohibitive for large companies, which is why many are taking a long, hard (and free!) look at Facebook for their recruiting needs.  This creates an interesting dilemma.  Facebook has long been viewed as off-limits to employers due to candidates’ privacy concerns and desire to keep their personal lives separate from their professional lives.

Interesting - I would have thought Facebook would have been one of the last places a business would go for their recruiting needs, for the very fact you mention - privacy.

Then again, it could be a great place to see potential candidates and if they're right for your company's image, based on their photos from Vegas... ;-)

DannyBrown Agree with you 100%. It's a fine, and potentially eye-opening, line. On one hand, it would be interesting to see if a candidate fits your company's image. On the other hand, there are plenty of people out there that can fit a company's image, but lead distinctively different lives outside of work. PS: Thanks for stopping by, Danny.
