Tired of your small business getting crushed by Walmart?  If you can’t beat ‘em, join ‘em.

@WalmartLabs, Walmart’s social, mobile and retail eCommerce innovation division, has launched an online contest called Get on the Shelf, where small business owners and entrepreneurs can enter their product for the opportunity to literally get on Walmart shelves.

What’s the prize?

  • Spot on Walmart store shelves
  • Featured placement on Walmart.com
  • Marketing support
  • Advise on scaling up to meet Walmart demand

How do you enter?

The submission process is simple.  All you need to do is fill out the product entry form on Get on the Shelf with your email, company/your name, product name, a short description and link to your YouTube video.

I need a YouTube video?!

YouTube video?  Yep, you heard that right.  The public is voting for their favorite products, so this is a huge opportunity to get free visibility for your creative small business product, even if your product isn’t one of the three winners.  The best part is that Walmart is accepting videos that you’ve already used in the past, so if you have an awesome product tour or commercial, you are golden!

If you don’t have a video, don’t stress as Firmology has you covered!  Check out how Orabrush used ridiculously viral YouTube videos to successfully get on Walmart shelves.

Don’t forget to tell us what your innovative product is in the comments below and leave a link to your video, so we can see your “winning” product in action.
